JD Industries

Privacy Notice

LAST UPDATED · 26 June 2026

JD Industries is a small, personal, satirical website made by two individuals (“Josh and Dan”, “we”, “us”). We collect very little data, we never sell it, and we use no advertising or tracking cookies. This notice explains, plainly, what we do collect and the rights you have. For the purposes of data-protection law, the operators of this site are the data controllers.

The short version

When you visit, we record a rough idea of which country and city you came from (so we can see where our visitors are, in aggregate). We do not store your IP address, we do not track you across the web, we use no advertising, and we never sell or share your personal information.

What we collect, and why

Visit analytics. When a page loads, our hosting provider derives an approximate location from your IP address. We store only the resulting country and city, the page visited, and a timestamp — never the IP address itself. This is used solely to understand, in aggregate, where our visitors come from. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in understanding our audience.

Optional precise location. On our contact page you may choose to share your precise location. This only happens if you click the button and grant permission in your browser. If you do, the coordinates are used once to display a single line of text and are then discarded — they are never stored or logged. Legal basis: your consent, which you can decline or withdraw at any time by simply not using the feature.

Essential storage. We use a single entry in your browser’s session storage to avoid counting the same visit twice. It holds no personal data and is cleared when you close the tab. We set no cookies for tracking or advertising.

What we do not do

No advertising. No third-party analytics (such as Google Analytics). No tracking cookies. No profiling or automated decision-making. No marketing emails. We do not sell, rent, or “share” your personal information with anyone for their own purposes.

Who helps us run the site (sub-processors)

  • Vercel — hosting and content delivery; derives the approximate location from your IP at the network edge.
  • Supabase — the database that stores the aggregate visit records (hosted in the EU/UK region).
  • BigDataCloud — used only if you opt in to precise location; it turns coordinates into a place name. We do not store the result.

Each provider maintains its own appropriate safeguards for handling data.

International visitors and data transfers

This website is available worldwide. Depending on the providers above, your data may be processed in the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area, or the United States. Where data is transferred internationally, our providers rely on recognised safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you may have rights over your personal data. In particular:

  • UK & EU (UK GDPR / GDPR): the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, and data portability — and the right to complain to a supervisory authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office).
  • California (CCPA / CPRA): the rights to know, delete, and correct your personal information, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information.
  • Other regions:you may have equivalent rights under your local law (for example, Canada’s PIPEDA, Brazil’s LGPD, or Australia’s Privacy Act).

To exercise any of these, please get in touch with the operators of this site — a dedicated contact address will be published here shortly. Please note that our visit analytics are aggregate and not linked to your identity, so in many cases we will not be able to single out a record as “yours”.

How long we keep data

Aggregate visit records are kept only for as long as they are useful for understanding our audience, and may be deleted periodically. Optional precise-location data is never retained.

Children

This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age of 16.

Changes to this notice

We may update this notice from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “last updated” date above.
